About

The Mapleton Community Advisory Panel was formed in 1993 to promote understanding and maintain open  communication between residents and the industrial facilities in the village of Mapleton, Illinois.

**All Mapleton CAP general membership meetings held on the first Tuesday of every other month are cancelled until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.**

The Mapleton CAP originated as a component of American Chemistry Council’s Responsible Care program by the chemical companies located closest to the town center at the time, Witco (now Evonik) and Lonza. Responsible Care are industry guidelines for environmental, health, safety and security best management practices.  In the years since it began, the CAP membership has grown to include Mapleton Caterpillar Foundry, Lanxess, Ingredion, Peoria County Emergency Management Agency and others.

The group meets every other month, with an annual community meeting held in the evening and an annual emergency exercise.
